Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • 8+ years of experience in zLinux DBA Role.
  • Install and configure DB2 on zLinux systems, ensuring the database environment is properly set up.
  • Configure and maintain zLinux servers for optimal performance with DB2.
  • Manage database creation, schema setup, and ensure that DB2 is correctly configured for zLinux systems.
  • Perform regular database backups and restore procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, optimizing queries and indexes.
  • Implement and manage user access control, roles, and privileges within DB2.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and policies specific to zLinux systems.
  • Monitor system performance, including CPU, memory, disk, and I/O usage specific to DB2 on zLinux.
  • Use DB2 performance tools to analyze and tune queries and database resources.
  • Configure and maintain DB2 High Availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, such as DB2 HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery).
  • Troubleshoot DB2 performance issues, query problems, and zLinux-specific issues that may affect DB2 performance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Resolve database outages, performance issues, and system alerts promptly.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all DB2 configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and best practices for resolving common issues.
  • Work closely with system administrators, application developers, and network teams to ensure DB2 integrates well with other infrastructure and software components.
  • Ensure that DB2 is configured to meet regulatory and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Support auditing processes by providing necessary database logs and audit trails.
